Getting your ADHD coaching funded through Access to Work (UK Clients)
We often get questions from our UK-based clients about funding options for ADHD coaching. While our previous blog discussed employer-sponsored coaching through L&D budgets, there's another valuable route available specifically for professionals in the UK: the Access to Work grant.
What is Access to Work?
In the UK, an ADHD diagnosis provides legal protections under the Equality Act (2010), which aims to ensure a level playing field for individuals with disabilities at work, school, and in society. As part of this, the Department for Work and Pensions provides funding through the Access to Work program.
Access to Work is a publicly funded employment support programme that helps people with disabilities start or stay in work through practical support and funding. While the scheme covers various supports (like readers for visual impairment or specialist equipment), for people with ADHD, it can be used to fund coaching to help develop effective work habits and routines.
Do You Qualify?
Access to Work is available if you:
Have ADHD
Live in Great Britain
Are either employed, self-employed, or about to start work
There are no restrictions based on your earnings or the type of work you do.
What Does Access to Work cover?
Access to Work typically funds three to six months of ADHD coaching.
Important Considerations
This funding route likely requires disclosing your ADHD to your employer, which is not for everybody
Claims are processed in arrears, meaning you or your company will need to pay for coaching upfront before receiving reimbursement
The application process can take up to 6 months
How to apply
You can find details of the claim process at this link.
Working with us through Access to Work
While we're happy to support UK clients using Access to Work funding, there are a few important things to know about the process:
The grant application and funding arrangements are managed by you (or your employer)
Please wait until your grant is approved before booking a discovery session with us
Once your grant is approved, we're happy to provide any quotes needed for your paperwork
For individual claims: Coaching sessions are paid to us monthly in advance, and you submit receipts to Access to Work for reimbursement
For employer-managed claims: We invoice your employer for the full program in advance, and they handle reimbursement through Access to Work
If you've secured your Access to Work grant and are ready to explore working with us, book a Discovery Session to meet with a member of the Dream Team and learn more about working with us.
